With a Heart of Thankfulness
Then one of them (the lepers), when he saw he was healed, turned back praising God with a loud voice. He prostrated himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus asked, “Were not ten made clean? But the other nine, where are they?”
Luke 17: 15-17
I want to be just like that lone leper who immediately returns to Jesus to thank Him. Often times, in the chaos and confusion of my daily life, I allow my priorities to shift from what is truly important. I find that I do not say, “Thank You, Jesus” at all times and for all things.
When I am on my knees before my King, I find this is the place that I need to be. It is not difficult for me to celebrate with Jesus during times of joyful occasions but much more difficult for me to be thankful in times of distress. But isn’t this really a most critical time to be on our knees before our Master? The time when Jesus is teaching us a lesson and taking the time to mold us into His beloved children; the children that take the time to be thankful in all things. This is the child who truly trusts Him. This is the child that has the faith that He will handle all things. I know that His plan is the path that I want to follow for my life; so may I remain on my knees in thankfulness during the times of delight and the times of distress.
Oh, Father, my prayer is to be just like that lone leper and to praise You in all the seasons of my life. Let my faith in You and my trust in Your Word be that light that guides my path as I continue on this journey. May I fall readily to my knees at all times and say, “Thank You.” Amen.
