The White Shell

“Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.”

Matthew 7:7

For sometime after my divorce, my prayer was to find someone to share my life with.  During a short stay at a local beach resort, I prayed for some sign that my prayer would be answered.  I asked that God would show me a white shell if there was someone special in my future.  As I lay in the sand near the pool, I was amazed to see a solitary shell.  It was a perfect white shell!

Five years later, I did meet a former classmate in our small hometown.  After hours of phone calls and many airline flights to see each other, we decided to marry.  To say he is the love of my life would be an understatement.  I keep the white shell to remind me of God’s promise to me.  I am sharing my life with a godly man and together we thank God for our life together.

Father God, today I thank you for answered prayers.  Help us to have faith and patience as we wait for your answer, knowing that it will always be your will and often even better than anything we could have imagined.  In Jesus name, Amen.
