God Answers Our Prayers
O God, you are my God. I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1
We are created with a longing in our heart for our creator. In a world where so many seem to be searching for something that is missing in their lives, nothing on this earth seems to be what they need to fill that void. Today, more than ever, that void is growing for so many. It is not surprising that this is coinciding with a decline in involvement in church life. The love and support found within a community of believers shows how looking to our creator can fill that void. Regular church attendance is a constant reminder of where we are to look to find what it is we need most to fill our lives. We are taught to pray in a manner that allows God to answer those needs in the way that he sees best, because he knows better than we do what it is that will fill the longings of our hearts. Anyone who recognizes an answered prayer that is unexpected but so much better than they could have hoped for, knows the power of seeking God’s best for them. My own answered prayers, that have been more than I could ever have hoped for or imagined, have been my family. A husband whose godliness constantly amazes me and children filled with compassion towards others are daily reminders of God’s goodness. And I pray every day that they remain in His constant love and protection.
Dear Father, help those who are searching for something to fill the void in their lives to find you, the only one who can truly fill the void that so many experience. Especially at this time of year, when sadness is felt by so many without family or someone who cares, help us to remember to show your love and concern for them. Amen.
