Worship Ministries

  • Our greeters put a welcoming face to all who attend SFITF. Available before and after each service, they offer information and a friendly welcome to both regular worshipers and visitors. They can direct you around our campus or provide details of what to expect at a worship service and aim to answer any question you may have. If you like meeting people and have a warm, open personality then this might be a ministry where you could shine.

For more information contact Noelle Pecora.

  • The Altar Guild is a ministry of "quiet service". It's behind the scenes, but a most critical act of service to the church. The objective is the same for any weekly or special service: to make each service as perfect as possible.

The Altar Guild is responsible for tasks such as:

Preparing the Altar, laying out the vestments and vessels for worship, setting the credence table with the elements, laundering and ironing Altar and worship linens, polishing brass, filling candles and various other tasks. Also, cleaning up after services.

We encourage participation in this important ministry and we welcome men and women to join our "teams" who take pride in preparing all areas of our church for worship.

  • Music is an integral part of the worship at SFITF. Our parish Worship Song Book (WSB) was developed internally and reflects the best of current contemporary worship music. St. Francis offers a “blended” musical approach: the best of the old and the best of the new! The choir rehearses on Thursdays at 7pm.

If you sing or play an instrument and would like to be involved in the music ministries of St. Francis, you may contact our Music Director Charlie McCall or our Assistant Director of Music, David Musselwhite.

  • The Intercessory Prayer Ministry ("IPM") is a welcoming group committed to pray regularly for the needs of others. We consider it an honor to pray for others and we welcome your interest and participation, if you are willing to make the commitment to pray regularly for the needs of others. Such prayers can be made from your home. No meetings are necessary as everything is coordinated by email. We will be happy to provide you with the information you need to pray for those who have requested prayers.

For more information on participating or to request prayers please contact our Office Administrator, Jeni Trinidad.

  • Youth from 4th grade and up are eligible to serve as acolytes in our worship services at SFITF. Younger children are given simpler tasks such as carrying a processional candle, and receiving the offering collection plates as they learn and develop. Older and experienced acolytes also serve the altar and assist the deacon or priest, and other tasks.

Serving at the altar is a true privilege and communicates to our children and youth that their ministry is valuable and that they have an important place in the life of our parish family.

  • The gift of hospitality is important to the health of any church. Providing a warm welcome to “family” and guests is critical to providing a positive environment. This is exactly what the ministry of usher accomplishes! Usher teams, in very practical ways, provide for the even people-flow of our liturgies. From distributing worship booklets, to collecting the offering, to guiding people to the altar for communion, our ushers politely and skillfully help the mechanics of worship happen smoothly, so that our attention can be on God!

For more information please contact Milt Bauer.

  • Reading is part of every worship service at SFITF. As a reader, you will participate and contribute to the service. All adults, along with high school and middle school students, are invited to join our group.

For more information on participating please contact our, Office Administrator Jeni Trinidad.

  • There are two categories of Eucharistic Ministries licensed by the Bishop of Florida to minister in and through SFITF Parish.

Eucharist Ministers (EMs) would be the most familiar category for the SFITF member and attendees. They are the persons most commonly seen in Sunday worship, who are vested and who serve the chalice and lead the creed and Prayers of the People. In addition, some are licensed as Eucharistic Ministers for Visitation (EMVs). They all have the capacity to do the ministry of an EM but are also licensed to take communion from the reserved sacrament (bread and wine previously consecrated by a priest) to the sick, infirm and those who, otherwise, are unable to participate in the regular worship services of the Church. When attending a Sunday Eucharist at SFITF you will notice an EMV being commissioned by the celebrant and leaving with a black box. That box contains the reserved sacrament and they are leaving to take the sacrament to members who are not able to join us in person. If you are in need of communion please contact the church office.

To serve in this Ministry one must be a confirmed, pledging member of SFITF in good standing. Since it is a licensed ministry of the Church, anyone serving in this ministry will need to be vetted and also approved and put forward by the rector of the church.
